has come for the Autumn wardrobe to take centre stage and a new pair of boots
are a must for me. I’ve been in sandals for the past 5 months so comfort is the
key factor in this purchase, as well as being on-trend of course. And I think I
have found the perfect pair...
Our new lace up boots called the ‘Milo’ are fab. Straight from the A/W catwalk
trend of the hiking boots, this boot style has that rugged tough feel because of deep sole tread. They look great worn with leggings or thick tights and a oversized shirt or jumper. Also they're a great variation to the biker boot if you want to toughen up a pretty floral dress.
And a style note for you perfectly petite peeps out there - as I'm only 5' 2" the heel in these boots are fab for that little boost. But what's even better is that because of the block heel you still feel like you’re in flats. They are a seriously comfortable find, trust me.
Of course, we know all too well here at DP, that remaining stylish whilst keeping the chill at bay is never far from your thoughts when purchasing a winter coat. You'll wonder how you did without it when your stood waiting for that bus that just never seems to show up, battling your way through the pre-Christmas high street when you’d rather be curled up on the sofa; or when accessorising your going out dress and heels requires more than a sparkly clutch in order not to be shivering at the taxi rank at 2am!
With all of that in mind, here at DP, we’ve got a collection of coats to cater for all eventualities…and tastes. And, get this, three of our lovely coats have made it into InstyleUK’s Top 50 Winter Coats, so with these three, you definitely can’t go wrong.

This month saw the 25th anniversary of London Fashion Week, Hoorah!
Somerset House played host to the cream of British design talent and this season's LFW brought us some amazing pieces. A fresh new outlook for 2010 came in a flurry of pastels, pretty prints and feminine shapes. Collections were very well received with most catwalk reports mooting about a new mood to fashion week… positive, upbeat, happy and girly!
So stop walking and start skipping as here's my top LFW 09 trend tips...
Pale colour and pastels made a big appearance on the catwalks, from the delicate layered florals of Betty Jackson to the slightly chalkier pastel palette of Luella. So keep your beady eyes out as you'll be sure to see sorbet shades and some fun pastel colour blocking in S/S10.
Stripes will also be playing a big part in many Spring/Summer trends, from traditional marine stripes to variegated, on tunics, boxy T’s and dresses, the ‘stripe’ will become a key piece for your wardrobe. You have been told!
Another great item for the season will be the shrunken blazer (think shorter, cuter boyfriend blazer), we love this at DP HQ and it’s a favorite of mine. I think a nicely cut blazer with a tunic, sunglasses and sandals is the ultimate in effortless chic. Wear yours with a floral print dress, or a stripe tee and shorts for a relaxed and sophisticated look.
But now I’m sure you have all started your quest for the perfect winter coat! Well, allow me to assist you with this… once the cold weather is upon us don’t stop looking chic and sexy, keep working that Rock-Glam look for the run up to Christmas, check out our military jackets! Here is some double trend blasting! Shoulder emphasis has rocked the catwalks this year and the ‘Trophy’ jacket is a key item, so putting these two together gets you a super-chic jacket that’s bang on trend!
Check out our Black stud trophy jacket (£65) and our Black sequin trophy jacket (£55) either of these are guaranteed to be your best jacket-asset perfect with your skinny jeans and studded ankle boots!
Keep glamming it up for the week through to the weekend! Loadsa Love Justin
So, it's definitely starting to get darker much earlier and definitely getting chillier, and the only thing that's getting me through this change in weather is the lovely A/W product we've got coming in.
Here's a sneak preview for all you readers too... This
amazing embellished star jumper is coming in very, very soon and I can't
wait to get my hands on it as I've been eyeing it up on the rails for
weeks! I think some very high heeled ankle boots and wet look leggings would look fab with it.
So ladies, biker is fast becoming a massive key look for this season. Whether you wear it with a cool printed t-shirt and treggings or an embellished vest with high shine leggings it is sure to be an investment look this A/W. Inspired by the catwalk and the strong 1980’s theme, the biker leathers are reigning supreme once more.
But for all you girls who love to 'prettify' your style you too can still incorporate the biker jacket into your wardrobe, wear with a floral dress and some cute shoe-boots for a girly angle to this trend. Our Multi Biker Rose Dress (£32) is the ultimate dress to team up with your biker jacket - form fitting and with a gorgeous graphic rose print this style is the perfect day dress for work or play. Check out our LOOK Style Counsel feature for more details and 'How to Wear' the biker trend.
We are love, love, loving floral prints here at HQ, as an all-over statement they look great in monochromes right through to coloured photographic styles like our Lilac Rose Hanky Hem Top (£18) which looks great with treggings and heels.
The biker trend is not all about leathers and florals though, inspiration from the 80's trends has lasted and will inspire details throughout the season like the power shoulder - growing in popularity and is still going strong. We have pretty pleated sleeve details in store now in all the key colours for this trend so go grab them!
Psst, this weeks must-have tip off:
Get your hands on our hexagon box cross body bag this gorgeous little gem will complete your look!
So get stocking up on those everyday basic skinny jeans, a sturdy winter coat to make mum & dad proud and maybe a couple of going out tops and dresses for good measure! Rude not too really when it's 15% easier on the old student funds.
It's a discount to make all us non-students like me jealous that's for sure! Debs x
I'm sure you've all seen the pics form the new Sex and the City film and I can definitely say that I am a dedicated follower of SATC! I have a friend's birthday this weekend and am deliberating over what to wear. So, inspired by LOOK magazine this week I thought I would steal some of Carrie's style!
So I'm going to ditch my trusty LBD's in favour of this white DP dress (especially whilst I still have my not-from-a-bottle tan!) and glam it up a-la SJP... I'm just hoping this warm weather holds up until Saturday!
I love, love, love big clutches - they look glam enough for the evening but still big enough to fit everything I need in for a night out! This one also comes in black too. I’m also partial to a bit of gold statement jewellery so this chain necklace ticks those boxes. And I love high heels too, but I do always carry a pair of flats with me, just in case!
