NICE NAILS - THIS SEASON'S MUST HAVE COLOURS

Us girls in the DP office have some what of an obsession for nail colour. Whether it’s pillar box red, a glittery sparkle or a burgundy hue we love it! So we’ve found the hottest colours we’re set to be wearing in 2012.

As well as making a big impact in your wardrobe this season, pastel colours set to be a great look for your fingertips. Our favourites are peach or a pretty lilac shade which Jessie J wore at the Brit Awards launch.

We’re still loving the deep, dark shades that were popular over winter. This year navy and red wine colours are set to be on trend. To ensure your nails look beautifully tidy, shape them short and square like Kimberly Wyatt.

Get rid of the winter blues and enjoy a burst of colour with super bright nails. We love Michelle Williams and her magenta nails - gorgeous! Clash colours with your outfit to make a real statement.

FEEL FABULOUS THIS 2012

We're giving you a couple of our top tips to look and feel gorgeous this New Year.

Brush it Beautiful
Get rid of that dry winter skin with a body brush and some fruity body scrub. It’ll leave your skin sparkling and super smooth.

The Perfect Pout
Be brave and brighten up your lips with a hot fuchsia colour. Looking for something for night then pick up a dark rose shade to perfect your pout.

Keep it Fit
The easiest way to keep fit is to do it with your friends. Head to an aerobics class with a group of girls, have a giggle and before you know it you’ve done an hours exercise.

Pretty In Pink
Pastel and candy colours are set to be a hot look for 2012. Get a splash of spring in your wardrobe with a cute flamingo print jumper.

Stay Fresh
Water. Water. Water. Drink at least 1.5 litres of water a day and not only will you feel better but your skin will thank you for it.

The Christmas Party – hit a beauty high!

Our office Christmas party is tomorrow night and we can’t wait!

Just reapplying your mascara doesn't cut it anymore so we thought we’d share some beauty tips to make sure you look gorgeous at your own parties.

Nice Nails
Say goodbye to neat nails and say hello to fake nails, stiletto nails and slant nails. This year it’s all about making the most of your nails with bright colours, different shapes and longer lengths so be experimentive! If you’re feeling really daring then copy Misha B when she performed on X Factor with one long tiger print talon...

Golden Glow
It’s time to embrace your inner Joey Essex and go fake with the tan. Everyone knows it’s December and no one’s been near a beach in months but get hold of some St Tropez to give you that sunkissed look  - perfect if you’re showing off your legs in a party dress.

Sparkle
It’s all about sequins, sparkles and glitter this year. This is a trend you can really go wild with in your eyes, nails or outfit. We love wearing the OPI glitter polish in Mad as a Hatter on our fingers - gorgeously glittery. Or go for a mix of green and gold eye shadows to really make your eyes pop.

Red Hot Lips
The classic red hot lip is still very much on trend. Make the most of your pout a’la Kim Kardashian and use a creamy pillar box red colour. The shade looks perfectly festive matched with a glittery eye.

All About Eyes
It’s definitely the time to apply those false lashes and there’s a real mix to choose from. We love the Eylure range, if you’re looking for something a little more subtle then pick up a simple lengthening pair or if you want to go glamorous then choose from ones adorned with feathers and glitter!

Achieve a celeb gloss-over with Closer Magazine's Style writer Daniela Bellanca

Smouldering eyes la Halle Berry

 
1. Coat lids with a gold cream eyeshadow for gloss and eyeshadow staying power.
2. Layer a medium brown eyeshadow over the top. Then, use a brush loaded with dark brown eyeshadow and sweep it sideways into socket creases so that it forms an arch around eyelid, and then wing it out.
3. Take a clean brush and blend the tones together.
4. Finish eyes by sketching your waterline with a chocolate brown eyeliner, and then trace top and below bottom lash lines, and smudge for softness.
5. Crimp lashes and coat with mascara.
6. Apply your base next so it looks fresh and clean.
7. Use an angled blusher brush to effortlessly contour cheeks using a peach blusher.
8. Complete the look with a nude lipstick. 
 
 
SJP does sugar coated candy shades

 
1. Brush on a semi sheer foundation, taking care to cover any redness in your complexion and dark undereyes - which might need topping up with concealer.
2. Using a lavender eyeshadow, sweep it across your eye sockets and just above.
3. Trace bottom waterlines with a cream coloured kohl to brighten eyes.
4. Curl lashes, and then wiggle on a coat of brown mascara.
5. Swirl a bronzer mixed with a coral blusher onto cheek apples, then tap a highlighter cream just above cheekbones to dazzle.
6. Finish the look with a slick of sugar pink frosted lip gloss. 

Lea Michele pulls off Hollywood glamour 
 
  
1. Apply a semi matte foundation over skin.
2. Lightly dust lids with a sparkly yellow-gold eyeshadow and dab it onto the inner corners of your eyes too.
3. Trace your top lashes neatly with a black liquid liner, then curl lashes and coat them with lengthening mascara.
4. Make brows bolder by sketching them in with a brow pencil.
5. Smile, and swirl on a bubblegum pink blusher onto cheek apples.
6. Complete the look by outlining lips with a red lip liner, and then colour them in. Layer a classic post-box red lipstick over the top with a brush for precision.
7. Use a very fine brush dipped into a cream concealer and trace the outline of your lips to clean up edges and make your pout pop.

Winter proof your skin

top tips on how to combat dry skin this season.

                   

1.Swipe your cuticles with cuticle oil containing almond oil. Leave it on your desk or beside your make up bag to remind you to do this as a daily ritual. This will soften dry crispy cuticles to keep hands looking younger. You can even add a drop into your hand cream

2.Make sure your moisturiser and hand cream contains an SPF. It may not be hot but the sun is still shining and every bit of sun exposure contributes to skin damage and aging.

3.Keep a lip cream packed with vitamin E and cocoa butter in your handbag to give dry chapped lips a shot of moisture.

4.Toasty central heating may leave your skin dryer than usual, so up your game by switching to a face oil at night.

5.Unlike summer time when you can leave your hair to dry naturally, you might find yourself using the hair dryer more often. If that’s the case, introduce a heat protection spray into your routine. and use a moisturing hair mask once a week. Complete with a hairspray that’s weather resistant to fight the frizz

We've got it nailed

We're completely obsessed with nail art at the moment, so we went crazy this morning over this photo (from the blog Hey, Nice Nails! but we saw it on Stylelist):

 

We love the intricacy of this manicure, but we also love the story behind it:

"these were inspired by a Jil Sander sweater/shirt/whatever I saw floating around tumblr. i’m so proud of how they turned out!"

We think nail art is a great way to get a high fashion look without slpashing out on the clothes, so we looked up the jumper in question, to see if it's a perfect match:
